Treasure Island is not really a Florida golf destination, as most people come for the beach and the water. In addition, the entire island is pretty compact and developed, not allowing for the large spaces typically required for a golf course. Nevertheless, there are a few public course options for the golf enthusiast, and a tennis option too.
Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis
The first and most convenient if you’re staying in Treasure Island is Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis. A par 3, 9 hole walking course that overlooks the intracoastal waterway, there are private lessons, tournaments and clinics available. Cost is extremely reasonable. No driving range. Tennis is available also, although reservations are needed. The facility also includes a sand volleyball court, a basketball court and picnic pavilion. 10315 Paradise Blvd, Treasure Island, 727-360-6062
Twin Brooks Golf Course
The Twin Brooks course is actually in St Petersburg and closer to Gulfport than to Treasure Island, but the course was recently renovated and is now re-open for play. The course is 18-holes and includes a driving range, which is something that the Treasure Bay course lacks. In addition there are three additional practice holes and a practice area.
A newly added fleet of 12 golf carts may help ease the heat in the summertime. PGA instruction is available for individuals or groups. You can check the website for current rates or to book line. Tee time reservations are 3 days in advance January to April.
Twin Brooks Golf Course is located at 3800 22nd Ave S. Phone 727-893-7445.
