WHY WE LOVE THE SAND DOLLAR
Its own hidden hangout in the midst of the Waterfront District, the Sand Dollar offers low-key relaxation to balance out Gulfport's energy and excitement.
We love its quaint charm as much as we love its proximity to fun and funky downtown, home to mouthwatering dining establishments, unique art galleries, and a full line-up of events. Visit during GeckoFest, a circus-inspired street event with chill tunes and can't-miss costumes, or catch a bi-weekly ArtWalk.
For some time in the great outdoors, take your four-legged family member on a stroll to the dog park, or peddle your way down the Pinellas Bike Trail. The Sand Dollar is just a short trip from Stetson School of Law and Eckerd College, making it ideal for families making a visit to campus.
Free Wifi. Neflix! Additional fee for pets. Aero bed available for 3rd or 4th person.
Ring video doorbell onsite. The entrance is only through the alley and there are no views from the sunporch.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Gulfport retreat in Florida! From the very comfy bed to the closeness to downtown Gulfport and dedicated parking, it made our stay perfect. The tiniest hiccup happened with the HVAC and the owner was immediately on it and rectify the situation with An a few hours. The kitchen was very well equipped and it was so peaceful at night listening to all of the insects sitting outside on the patio. Thank you for a completely awesome stay!- Anonymous from seattle, Posted: 5/4/2023
Our Gulfport Stay at Sand Dollar
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Sand Dollar apartment in Gulfport! We were only there for a week but it was ideal for us as it was a spacious, nicely decorated beach vibe place and it wa only a very short walk to the beach, restaurants and shops. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and although we did not do too much cooking the lovely kitchen had everything you need and more! We enjoyed eating breakfast on the porch, which had a nice tee top feel. Thank you Elizabeth for a very enjoyable stay!- Anonymous , Posted: 4/2/2023
The Sand Dollar
The Sand Dollar was a great place to stay. Beautiful outdoor area that was very private. It was very clean and well stocked. The kitchen had everything you need to prepare a nice meal. The only downside of the kitchen is that it didn’t have a dishwasher. Beth was great with communication. The king size bed was very comfortable.- Anonymous , Posted: 3/18/2023

We had a lovely experience. Having two small dogs made the fenced in area very nice. It's very close to downtown Gulfport which was a plus for us. Overall it is nice. Two downsides, no dishwasher or garbage disposal.- Anonymous , Posted: 2/19/2023
Charming apartment in the heart of Gulfport Waterfront district.
This one bedroom is a short walk to great restaurants, bars, shops, and the waterfront in Gulfport. It is charming, clean and well managed. We loved it so much we have already booked a stay for next year. Gulfport is a hidden gem, eclectic, artsy and fun. There is live music somewhere every night.
We look forward to returning.- Anonymous from Sandefjord, Posted: 2/2/2023

Did you read all those positive reviews? Yes? Then just book this place because you will love it. This team has gone above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable.
Lovely Gulfport Hidden Oasis
This attractive, little apartment tucked away on a quiet alley in Gulfport was more like visiting someone’s home than staying in a vacation rental. The furniture, the kitchen amenities, the bedroom linens, the window treatments...all were high quality, nothing at all like some rentals we’ve been in that have been furnished by the Goodwill and haven’t been upgraded in years. Yes, it’s true that the entrance is on one of Gulfport‘s ubiquitous alleys that run through the middle of the city blocks. But, unless it’s important to you to sit on your front porch and watch people go by, this little oasis is extremely comfortable, conveniently located to Gulfport’s waterfront district, and well equipped — absolutely the nicest rental we’ve ever stayed in.

Comfort and convenient
This unit is a block away from everything. Loved waking up and hanging on the paved patio and walking to breakfast at Stella’s. We had everything we needed available to us during our stay. Gulfport is 100% dog friendly. We drove in from Ohio but could have easily enjoy Gulfport without a car. We are already making plans to return.

We were very happy with everything about this property. The location was within walking distance to the pier and great restaurants. Beth and Terry were very welcoming and accommodating and I would recommend this rental to my friends. The Sand Dollar in Gulfport
This is a small rental in an excellent area of Gulfport. If you want to visit Gulfport, you really can't stay anywhere better. Kitchen has absolutely everything a couple needs to cook at home. This rental includes nice extras like bicycles, a washing machine and dryer downstairs, ceiling fans, two televisions and a nice seating area which we enjoyed very much. We were within just a couple of blocks of shopping, dining, the library, and a small, clean park. We enjoyed the street market downtown while we were there. Just a great little rental.- Anonymous from Dawsonville, Posted: 3/15/2021
Spacious and comfortable.
Spacious, very comfortable king bed, lots of closet space, nice kitchen, clean. Having Netflix was a nice plus. Close to all restaurants and activities. Located above a garage, with only entrance from an alley. We were unhappy to return home after dinner in the dark walking down an alley past trash cans and debris with a flashlight, and guests had to come down the alley to visit us. Sun porch had view of the alley. We felt isolated when in the unit. The patio and outdoor furniture needed an upgrade and hammock was too dirty to use. The patio was surrounded by 8' tall fences. The half bath was a toilet in the laundry room. Hostess was responsive and helpful. However, we left before our lease was up because of the location. We will not give a non-refundable deposit in the future without the exact address and location of a unit.- Anonymous from Mineral, Posted: 3/4/2021

Charming, comfortable, well appointed apartment
We stayed at The Sand Dollar for just over a week. We were super impressed by the well appointed kitchen, the comfortable bed and linens, and the convenient location to Gulfport restaurants. Beth is a pleasure to deal with, she is quick to respond and is very accommodating. We were impressed by the layout of the apartment and how spacious it felt for being a one bedroom. Another Great Stay in Gulfport!
This is our second year at the Sand Dollar and the accommodations are as wonderful as our first. The word "cozy" is over (and mis-) used often in rentals, but this place is very comfortable, exceptionally clean, and located walking distance from trendy restaurants and recreation. We'll be back!- Anonymous from Normal, Posted: 2/25/2020Thank you Phil. See you in 2021.- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:
Home away from home
Rented to get a feel for the area....looking for that place I would want to come back to. Dug into the day to day...felt very comfortable from the get go. Very Bohemian laid back vibe, close to downtown St Petersburg which is lovely...Clean great restaurants warm atmosphere...Also St Pete Beach area lots to choose from, and water water everywhere!- Anonymous from Brick, Posted: 1/16/2020
wonderful once again!
We have stayed at the Sand Dollar several times and always love this place. Clean, comfortable and quiet. We bring our dog and it's wonderful having the fenced back yard. Plus parking in the fenced yard. A short walk to the water front and all the great shops, restaurants and coffee shops. (the Golden Dinasours vegan deli and GulfPerks coffee house are the best.) Well stocked kitchen appliances and a Keurig coffee maker - even wall mounted shower gel and shampoo dispenser. Whene ver we plan a trip to Gulf Port we plan to stay at the Sand Dollar. Highly recommend this cute house!- Anonymous from Mondovi, Posted: 1/11/2020
Relaxing Vacation Getaway
If you want a nice quite place to relax, this is the spot for you. Tucked away off an alley, your within minutes to many beaches amount other things to do on a rainy day. The only reason we gave it a 4 star was due to two separate occasions we came home to someone in our driveway getting things out of the downstairs storage spaces without being warned someone was coming over. Everything else, however was exactly what we wanted for a nice relaxing week.- Anonymous , Posted: 1/5/2020
We have stayed at the Sand Dollar many times, in the spring and in the fall. Beth was very helpful when she moved us to Sand Dollar when it became available due to a cancellation. The unit was very clean and had everything you might need for cooking, grilling out on patio, or taking in the nearby resturants and night life. You will get a great nights sleep in the comfy king bed. The location is just a walk away to the main drag in Gulfport and a short drive to the beaches on the Gulf. If your thing is dancing, there is a dance hall (casino) with different themes nightly and lessons are available. I prefer to go sailing, there are many locations nearby to rent a boat or go on a afternoon or sunset cruise, a must do while in Florida. There are two bikes in the laundry room on the ground level, the area has a great bike/hike trail network or just ride around town to explore.
The only regret was having to leave our great fall getaway and to return home to the awaiting cold weather.

Beautiful property- perfect location!
Sand Dollar is a beautiful second floor apartment that gives a wonderful view of Gulfport! No worries about downstairs neighbors as 1st floor is storage for the properties. Sand Dollar has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Beth does an excellent job making sure everything is perfect. The location is an easy walk to the beach, pier, shops, and an assortment of awesome restaurants. Gulfport is a small and friendly town that has managed to stay unique amongst the over developed beach towns. It is also just a short drive to Fort DeSoto which boasts a terrific dog beach that our pups always enjoy!
All of Beth's properties are beautiful and incredible well maintained. We have rented from her for over 10 years and have never been disappointed! Sand Dollar is a favorite for it cozy charm and privacy.- Anonymous from Lexington, Posted: 10/26/2019
A sweet, comfortable cottage
The Sand Dollar was all that the pictures showed it to be. It was clean and very well organized. Beth was easy to communicate with and followed up quickly whenever I had a question or concern. The bed and other furniture were comfortable and user-friendly, everything in good order but nothing prissy and off-putting. We look forward to returning next year. The location really worked. It was a 5 minute walk to the beach but far enough from the nightlife that we never heard the noise.- Anonymous from Burlington, Posted: 4/16/2019Wonderful. This is a very nice apt for vacation rental. The only con is that the driveway and entrance run off the large back alley which is very dark when walking back at night. We use Splashy Ventures vacations rentals for our Florida rentals and will continue to do so. I highly recommend them.- Anonymous from Lawrence, Posted: 3/13/2019It's quite easy to walk past one house and then walk down a regular street when walking to and from The Sand Dollar. It's not necessary to use the alley any more than that for walking or driving.- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:

We stayed at the Sand Dollar for 6 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday and enjoyed every minute! The location is great -- walkable to the shore and shops and restaurants in the neighborhood -- the place was beautifully clean. We found everything we needed to prepare our portion of the holiday dinner -- good pans, even a small food processor and a zester! And Beth, our host, was very responsive. Quiet and well appointed.
This is a cozy one bedroom apartment. The King size bed is very comfortable and they had cotton sheets which I really appreciated. The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast and more if we had been so inclined. The property manager was very responsive to any questions we had. Gulf Port is a funky town with a lot of variety in terms of the quality of the homes and properties. It is like stepping back into the 70's. Great getaway, close to everything
The rental unit was as shown in the pictures, unit was very clean. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, except no dishwasher (that was me). I had trouble finding the unit when we first arrived, we drove right by the gated driveway when we went down the alley opposite of the directions. The unit is only 2 blocks to the heart of Gulfport, seemed like something was going on everyday. So many shops, restaurants (loved The Neptune, great Greek food), bars (O'Mallys), beach volleyball, beach with swings, kids play ground, public library (free internet access), community theater, dancing, free live entertainment, you name it, they have it all.
I would recommend the unit for couples and possibly with a family of 4 with small children. I plan to stay at the Sand Dollar again if unit is available on our next visit to the Tampa Bay area.- Anonymous from Cincinnati, Posted: 11/9/2017Thank you so much. Nice place off the main road
The unit was nice and well laid out. Location was OK, walking the back lane after dark does require a flashlight, fortunately the cell phone does well. I will add that although it is technically a couple blocks from the beach, it is not a beach you can use due to sea grass and a high tide that covers the sand to the seawall.
There is no real view from the property due to treas and other houses, but it is a garage apartment, so I was not expecting much.
Local swim and sun beaches are 20-45 min's drive time.
The local food is very good mostly, and there are several fine pubs and dining locations within a short walk. I don't recommend sitting on the street side tables, we were bothered by drunks on two occasions.
Safety and security are OK, but there is no smoke alarm that I saw in the laundry room and the bed room fire escape stair is rusted out with noticeable holes in several treads. We did find a fire extinguisher in a closet in the last day while looking for a vacuum.
Note for property manager: recommend you contact the local fire inspector for a walk through to ensure all codes are met. Also, the tax/license card in the guest binder is for the other property, the Dolphin House.- Anonymous from Green Cove Springs, Posted: 7/16/2017I'm sorry there were a couple of issues while dining streetside at local restaurants. I've been dining out and streetside in this area for 15 years and never had one h incident. It definitely is not the norm. The alley way can be dark but you can also walk out the back and cut over and dart out to 53rd street and walk down it to the waterfront area on a regular street route. We will check on the smoke detector in the laundry room. The tax/license card in the guest binder is for Splashy Ventures and covers all the properties we manage (all are registered under our umbrella), although the way the licensing works Dolphin House is used as the "face" of all the properties. Stair treads on the fire escape have been checked! While we don't leave the fire extinguisher sitting out, in our arrival email we do advise guests to locate both the fire extinguisher and first aid kit upon their arrival, just in case!- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:

Loved the Sand Dollar!
We really enjoyed our time at the Sand Dollar. We were visiting my daughter at Eckerd College in St. Pete and Gulfport is a nice alternative to the busy St. Pete Beach area. It's great to be able to walk around town and we especially appreciated how dog-friendly the place is. Sand Dollar was the perfect size for a couple and one small dog, with a nice restful gated yard to enjoy. It had everything we could want or need and was very comfortable and clean.
I'm not sure I could recommend this for more than 2 or maybe 3 people, as the second bed is a sofa bed and the only bath is off of the bedroom, but for a couple, it was wonderful. We'll definitely try to stay again sometime!- Anonymous from South Haven, Posted: 5/23/2017Thank you Cindy!- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:

We flew into Orlando and drove to Gulfport at night. It was a little tricky to find the place because of the alleys, but after that everything was great. It was very nice to have the keypad on the door. We also had everything we needed. We were in town for the Grand Prix, so we were close enough to downtown to easily drive or Uber. A couple nights we ate on the strip a few blocks away. It was a much more relaxing experience than a hotel! The facility was nice, but location was not adjacent to beaches.- Anonymous from River Ridge, Posted: 7/29/2016The Sand Dollar is a couple of blocks to the neighborhood beach and a few miles to St Pete Beach, Pass-A-Grille and about 20 minutes to the beaches at Fort DeSoto.- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:

Key West in St.Pete.
I grew up in St.Petersburg and now live in the lower Hudson Valley of NY. The Sand Dollar and Gulfport provided an amazing homecoming experience. It's very much like a mini old Key West. The accommodations were wonderful. I highly recommend.- Anonymous from Highland Mills, Posted: 5/13/2016We were so happy to be part of your homecoming!- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:
The Sand Dollar Experience
I have never rented a property before, and I must say that my experience at the Sand Dollar for my wife's 30th Birthday was fantastic! The property was clean and located in a great location near the waterfront, beach area, and restaurants. We brought along our dog, which made for a great trip as many locations in St. Pete are dog friendly. I highly recommend taking your pet to Del Soto Dog Beach, which is about 25 minutes away from the Sand Dollar. The instructions and App provided by the management company were very useful to insure we would have a great stay. We hope to book the property in the future.- Anonymous from Orlando, Posted: 5/4/2016Hi Eric, we were so pleased to help with a good experience for your first time!- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:
Three days in paradise

The locals were all vey friendly and accommodating and have never seen s place where your pets are so welcomed!- Anonymous from Riverview, Posted: 4/23/2016The area is indeed very pet-friendly. The Sand Dollar is a great rental. We stayed here before a few times several years ago. Great location. Bathroom has been updated and new appliances in the kitchen.- Anonymous from Narragansett, Posted: 4/16/2016I did not realize you guys had not seen the bathroom updates. I bet that was a nice surprise!- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:
The Sand Dollar
We were fairly fairly happy with the place. Quaint, artsy part of town. Driving distance to beaches, shopping, etc. The place itself needed a real good housecleaning though. Had been just surface cleaned so was due for some real good cleaning. Sofa bed needs replacing.- Anonymous from Milton, Posted: 2/2/2016We did replace the sofa bed with brand new sofa (not a sleeper) plus an EZ bed. That way both the sofa and the temporary extra bed are comfortable. Thanks for bringing the problem to our attention.- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:
Sand Dollar VRBO
We had a very nice stay there. We liked the electronic lock system. Not keys to get or lose. Nice quiet place. A bit difficult to locate the right alley at night. Good WiFi and TV. Large kitchen.- Anonymous from Poway, Posted: 1/14/2016Thank you Michael. There is a light stays on by the entrance to the property and another light that is motion activated when you pull it, but we will add another light on the back of the building for nighttime alley navigation. Thanks for the idea. Beth- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:

Cozy Convenience & Unbeatable Location
Bringing pets on vacation is almost impossible nowadays due to the limited accommodations catering to them, but this short-term rental property solves all of your problems. Having 3 dogs ourselves, it was the first time we were able to bring them with us. Not having to worry about who will take care of them while we are away meant the world to us and Beth (the property manager) even waived the pet fee for our 15-lb. dog! The location is a block away from O' Maddy's and Salty's, there's ballroom dancing during the weekends at the Gulfport Casino and then the beach! The place was fantastic and I cannot rave about it enough. We plan on coming back soon.- Anonymous from Orlando, Posted: 9/11/2015Thank you Jonathan, please come back with the whole crew again! Comfortable Retreat in Gulfport
What a wonderful, super comfortable apartment! Great location in a quiet neighborhood just two blocks from restaurants and shops! Love the king size bed and walk-in closet. The bathroom has a cart where you can put all your toiletries, so the sink doesn't get cluttered. A very well stocked kitchen is perfect for preparing meals. Chairs, tables, a hammock, and a grill are outside in a lovely outdoor space. There is also a washer and dryer downstairs. I hope to return because it was just lovely!

Quiet, comfortable, lovely! We had a wonderful time at Sand Dollar. The property is charming and has everything you could need. Great location, close to the art district. When we weren't at the beach, we were walking the neighborhood with our dog who was welcomed at many businesses and restaurants. Look forward to visiting again.- Anonymous , Posted: 8/5/2015Thank you Heather. The location near the Art Village and waterfront make it easy to walk to many things. And most local business welcome pets with water bowls and, sometimes, even doggie treats! (With parental approval of course.)- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:

the Sand Dollar
We stayed at the Sand Dollar for 7 days in April - first time in Gulfport. It is a nice area mostly for adults wo children. The city is relaxing with few bars and places to eat out. the Sand Dollar was a niice place to stay. It is a decent size with fully equipped kitchen, living room, bedroom with pretty comfortable king size bed and bathroom. We traveled with a small dog as they allowed small pets. There were couple of nights when neighbors were loud outside but overall we did have a good time. We stayed at Pass A Grill before and the beach at the Pass a Grill was nicer but it was almost impossible to find anything unbooked the week we needed also Pass a Grill is more expensive. We would consider to come back.- Anonymous from Columbus, Posted: 4/27/2015Hi Darina, I'm pleased you found good value in your rental. I apologize for the neighbors' noise. We ended up staying here a couple of weeks after you and didn't note any issues, nor had we had any on previous stays. So most likely it was a rare thing. Beth- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:
Very nice and very clean!
When we first pulled in we were a little worried that it wss not in a safe area because of the houses next to us. But it turned out to be o.k.Close to the town and the beach. House was very equipped with items we needed.- Anonymous from newaygo, Posted: 4/19/2015I'm glad you enjoyed it! One of the houses next door is undergoing a total makeover and it is finally starting to show on the outside! Beth- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:
Nice little place
It was nice - full kitchen, though we didn't really need it for a 2 night stay. Loved the location to the shops/restaurants as well as the beach. Was nice to have beach toys for the kids. My only criticism (and this is due to me being new to Home Away) is the many instructions we were given. Unsure if that's unique to this property or for all properties. It kind of takes away from the vacation aspect a bit.....- Anonymous from Blue Bell, Posted: 4/19/2015Hi Theresa, I'm sorry you didn't find the instructions helpful but so glad that you enjoyed your stay. And we do want you to feel like you're on vacation! We've tried to address many of the questions guests frequently ask as well as many of the issues that come up by putting that in the arrival/departure instructions. We realize that it isn't easy walking into a new home and knowing where everything is or how to turn things on. There are also many more "moving parts" in a home than in a hotel room, and while we try to be as responsive as possible it still isn't quite the same as being able to call the front desk if you have a question. We will continue to look for ways to provide necessary info as succinctly as possible! Beth- Splashy Ventures staff, Posted:
Lovely stay at the Sand Dollar
Photos accurately reflect the property. Plenty of room for the 2 of us. Lots of small, thoughtful details throughout. Bright kitchen, well equipped. Property manager extremely responsive to questions/needs. Went above and beyond to get us the waiver to use the bikes, a nice amenity. Definitely an "old Florida" style area. Relaxed and safe neighborhood--this property much nicer than many others. Gulfport is in a central location to visit surrounding areas. Loved the music at the Sea Hag, Treasure Island; Frenchy's in Clearwater, sunsets at Brass Monkey in Pass-a-Grille. Chihuly museum (art glass) in downtown St Pete well worth a visit. Thanks for everything!- Anonymous from Cincinnati, Posted: 2/16/2015

Another wonderful stay at the Sand Dollar
This is our 4th year staying at the Sand Dollar and once again it was wonderful. Very clean, with everything you need to just "move in" and enjoy your stay. The main street is just a block away, you can walk to any number of fantastic restaurants, weekly fresh market, Art Walk and so much more. Cozy, clean and inviting - the Sand Dollar is the perfect place to enjoy your Gulfport getaway. I would highly recommend renting this cute place, and Splashy Ventures is always ready to make it a welcome place for you. Plus the pet friendly and private back yard is perfect for traveling with the fur kids!- Anonymous from Mondovi, Posted: 1/22/2015
Gulf Port Idyllic
Convenient for visiting Tampa,St.Petersberg, Fort Desoto Beach, Gulf Port Beach-serine,refreshing, great sunrise & sunset experience. Sundial well appointed especially the charming kitchen. Will return!- Anonymous from Boca Raton, Posted: 1/12/2015
Laid back Gulfport, Florida
Our recent stay at The Sand Dollar put us in the heart of the arts district in this wonderful, old time Florida town. The garage apartment was nicely remodeled retaining many original architectural features. The lay out of the apartment was very nice for two adults, but the sofa bed could accomodate another adult or child. The bathroom is accessible through the bedroom. The bed is super comfy - very nice king size. The linens do need some updating. The bathroom is tight with no counter space. The shower is large and water pressure is good. The shower floor does need a good scrubbing.
The kitchen is separated from the main living area by a foyer and can be closed off from the sleeping area. Appliances are nice, but no dishwasher. All other needs for cooking are provided. The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen and is very cozy. Love the "built-in " ironing board.
The a/c is central and works well. Management asks that windows not be opened.
The apartment entrance is up an outside flight of stairs and would not be suitable for handicapped. The yard is lovely, beautiful landscaping and privacy fence. The utility room is downstairs and has an onsite washer and dryer. Beach chairs are in the utility room The "second" bathroom is in the utility room - only a toilet. Parking is tight and requires backing in and out of an alley with a garge across the street. Check with the owner if you have a large vehicle for optional parking.
The neighbor's dog is an alarm clock set for 5:30 am. But he is only noisy for a few minutes. We had to get going early anyway.
Signs and notes are left everywhere about keeping the unit clean. The "cleaners" have a limited list of chores they will provide. We stripped the bed and started the load of towels before leaving. Also, washed all dishes and dried and put them away. The cleaning fee is a bit high, but it wasn't a big deal.
I would recommend this property if you are looking for a lot of privacy and a comfortable- Anonymous from Slidell, Posted: 12/31/2014
Great- Anonymous from Titusville, Posted: 12/3/2014
We rented the Sand Dollar at the last minute because our previous rental was accidentally overbooked. Beth was great at getting us booked and reserved in a days time. The rental was small but quaint. Nothing fancy, but just enough for a family of 5 (3 kids ages 6,4 & 2 mos). My oldest 2 bunked out on the "springy" pull out sofa (luckily they're not fussy about those things) and my husband and I slept comfortably on the king bed. The laundry facilities were just fine but the stairs were a bit taxing in 92 degree weather. We attempted the beach just a block away on our first day. As native Floridians we were less than impressed with it. Extremely shallow, dirty and HOT. I guess late August is not ideal for Gulfport beach. We opted to drive to Madiera and Treasure Island the rest of the time. Had I known of Gulfports beach condition we would have stayed elsewhere. We enjoyed Johns Pass and ate only once at O'Maddys. The food was good and the staff very pleasant. If I had to do it over I would have stayed in Madiera beach, but that's just a preference and not a reflection on the Sand Dollar. Otherwise, we felt Gulfport was cute, quiet and pleasant. The ability to text any problems and concerns was convenient but it sometimes took an hour or more for a response. It did, however, make check out a breeze. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, dishes, etc. I overlooked the fact that it didn't have a dishwasher, so that was a drag. We did request an air mattress when my nephew came to stay a night but the pump was broken and we had to bunk my middle child with us. We were given a new one the following night. All in all, the Sand dollar was just fine for a family getaway.- Anonymous from Valrico, Posted: 8/29/2014
Wonderful Summer Vacation!! 5 stars!
We spent many hours searching for the right property to stay at for our 10 day vacation in Florida. We found the sand dollar and was very impressed with the location and size of the house for our small family of three. It is exactly what is described. A 5 min walk to Gulfport beach which was so quiet almost a private beach which we loved!! We also spent many days on the gorgeous St.Petes beach which is a 10 min drive and from the sand dollar. The house is clean, comfortable, wifi and cable were great! The large king size bed was a dream to sleep on. Everything you need is in the house! We loved that it was quiet and not a party place as we went with our almost 2 year old son. I would recommend the Sand Dollar to anyone looking for a great beach vacation. We also went to Busch Gardens only 30 mom drive, Disney World which is 1.5 hours and a Tampa Rays baseball game, only 10 min from the house! We can't wait to go back to the Sand Dollar!!- Anonymous from Toronto, Posted: 8/20/2014
Its smaller than the photos lead on but it was amazing!
Makes sure you read the whole packet of information the renter sends to make sure you park at the right house. Fully functional kitchen (pots, pans, cookware, towels, some seasonings, etc.)
Close to a beach recreational area but we spent most of our days driving to the beach (10 minutes away) I recommend a steak house (1200 chophouse) if you are looking for amazing food, great wine, and great service. Get there early and with an empty stomach (large portions and they WILL have a wait)
Doors have access codes to enter and exit.
Very secure location.
Very comfortable bed
