With a parlor-style living space and private, tropical patio, there’s no shortage of spaces to relax. And you’ll do so in style: preserved Shaker touches and cool coastal décor offer the ideal blend of laid-back beach vibes and old-school Florida elegance.
Venture out and find yourself at the center of a vibrant community, where you’ll fill your days with farmer’s markets or music festivals. Spend afternoons in the surf and evenings at diverse waterfront restaurants. It’s all here in Gulfport, a funky little community tucked within St. Pete.
A DAY AT THE SAND DOLLAR
Wake up in a king-size bedroom with airy coastal accents to remind you that you’re on beach time. The en-suite master bath with a walk-in shower is great for refreshing for the day ahead or washing off the sand from your latest adventure.
Swing open the French doors to the living space, then grab a book or admire the treetop views from the cozy sofas. If you need a minute to check in with the real world, steal away to catch up on emails at the corner desk (free WiFi is also included).
Additional guests can use the main en-suite bathroom and convenient half-bath off the downstairs laundry room. A queen-size EZ bed is also available if you’re bringing a crew of four.
Suited for prepping everything from beach picnics to gourmet cuisine, the kitchen is equipped with a full suite of appliances and all the pots, pans, and dishes you’d find at home.
Shake a margarita and sip it in the upstairs sunroom, or prep feasts and share them in your private outdoor yard. This tropical-inspired space is draped by an enormous sail shade to keep afternoon gatherings cool—have a long lunch at the outdoor table, then recoup on the loungers or hammock.

We love its quaint charm as much as we love its proximity to fun and funky downtown, home to mouthwatering dining establishments, unique art galleries, and a full line-up of events. Visit during GeckoFest, a circus-inspired street event with chill tunes and can’t-miss costumes, or catch a bi-weekly ArtWalk.
For some time in the great outdoors, take your four-legged family member on a stroll to the dog park, or peddle your way down the Pinellas Bike Trail. The Sand Dollar is just a short trip from Stetson School of Law and Eckerd College, making it ideal for families making a visit to campus.

Fantastic stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Gulfport retreat in Florida! From the very comfy bed to the closeness to downtown Gulfport and dedicated parking, it made our stay perfect. The tiniest hiccup happened with the HVAC and the owner was immediately on it and rectify the situation with An a few hours. The kitchen was very well equipped and it was so peaceful at night listening to all of the insects sitting outside on the patio. Thank you for a completely awesome stay!

Our Gulfport Stay at Sand Dollar

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Sand Dollar apartment in Gulfport! We were only there for a week but it was ideal for us as it was a spacious, nicely decorated beach vibe place and it wa only a very short walk to the beach, restaurants and shops. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and although we did not do too much cooking the lovely kitchen had everything you need and more! We enjoyed eating breakfast on the porch, which had a nice tee top feel. Thank you Elizabeth for a very enjoyable stay!

The Sand Dollar was a great place to stay. Beautiful outdoor area that was very private. It was very clean and well stocked. The kitchen had everything you need to prepare a nice meal. This one bedroom is a short walk to great restaurants, bars, shops, and the waterfront in Gulfport. It is charming, clean and well managed. We loved it so much we have already booked a stay for next year. Gulfport is a hidden gem, eclectic, artsy and fun. There is live music somewhere every night.

Lovely Gulfport Hidden Oasis

This attractive, little apartment tucked away on a quiet alley in Gulfport was more like visiting someone’ s home than staying in a vacation rental. The furniture, the kitchen amenities, the bedroom linens, the window treatments...all were high quality, nothing at all like some rentals we’ ve been in that have been furnished by the Goodwill and haven’ t been upgraded in years. Yes, it’ s true that the entrance is on one of Gulfport‘ s ubiquitous alleys that run through the middle of the city blocks. But, unless it’ s important to you to sit on your front porch and watch people go by, this little oasis is extremely comfortable, conveniently located to Gulfport’ s waterfront district, and well equipped — absolutely the nicest rental we’ ve ever stayed in.

This unit is a block away from everything. Loved waking up and hanging on the paved patio and walking to breakfast at Stella’ s. We had everything we needed available to us during our stay. Gulfport is 100% dog friendly. We drove in from Ohio but could have easily enjoy Gulfport without a car. We are already making plans to return.

Perfect little getaway

This is a small rental in an excellent area of Gulfport. If you want to visit Gulfport, you really can't stay anywhere better. Kitchen has absolutely everything a couple needs to cook at home. This rental includes nice extras like bicycles, a washing machine and dryer downstairs, ceiling fans, two televisions and a nice seating area which we enjoyed very much. We were within just a couple of blocks of shopping, dining, the library, and a small, clean park. We enjoyed the street market downtown while we were there. Just a great little rental.

We stayed at The Sand Dollar for just over a week. We were super impressed by the well appointed kitchen, the comfortable bed and linens, and the convenient location to Gulfport restaurants. Wonderful once again!

We have stayed at the Sand Dollar several times and always love this place. Clean, comfortable and quiet. We bring our dog and it's wonderful having the fenced back yard. Plus parking in the fenced yard. A short walk to the water front and all the great shops, restaurants and coffee shops. (the Golden Dinasours vegan deli and GulfPerks coffee house are the best.) Well stocked kitchen appliances and a Keurig coffee maker - even wall mounted shower gel and shampoo dispenser. Whene ver we plan a trip to Gulf Port we plan to stay at the Sand Dollar. Highly recommend this cute house!

Relaxing Vacation Getaway

If you want a nice quite place to relax, this is the spot for you. Tucked away off an alley, your within minutes to many beaches amount other things to do on a rainy day. The only reason we gave it a 4 star was due to two separate occasions we came home to someone in our driveway getting things out of the downstairs storage spaces without being warned someone was coming over. Everything else, however was exactly what we wanted for a nice relaxing week.

We have stayed at the Sand Dollar many times, in the spring and in the fall. Beth was very helpful when she moved us to Sand Dollar when it became available due to a cancellation. The unit was very clean and had everything you might need for cooking, grilling out on patio, or taking in the nearby resturants and night life. You will get a great nights sleep in the comfy king bed. The location is just a walk away to the main drag in Gulfport and a short drive to the beaches on the Gulf. If your thing is dancing, there is a dance hall (casino) with different themes nightly and lessons are available. I prefer to go sailing, there are many locations nearby to rent a boat or go on a afternoon or sunset cruise, a must do while in Florida. There are two bikes in the laundry room on the ground level, the area has a great bike/hike trail network or just ride around town to explore.
The only regret was having to leave our great fall getaway and to return home to the awaiting cold weather.

Beautiful property- perfect location!

Sand Dollar is a beautiful second floor apartment that gives a wonderful view of Gulfport! No worries about downstairs neighbors as 1st floor is storage for the properties. Sand Dollar has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Beth does an excellent job making sure everything is perfect. The location is an easy walk to the beach, pier, shops, and an assortment of awesome restaurants. Gulfport is a small and friendly town that has managed to stay unique amongst the over developed beach towns. It is also just a short drive to Fort DeSoto which boasts a terrific dog beach that our pups always enjoy!
All of Beth's properties are beautiful and incredible well maintained. We have rented from her for over 10 years and have never been disappointed! Sand Dollar is a favorite for it cozy charm and privacy.

A sweet, comfortable cottage

The Sand Dollar was all that the pictures showed it to be. It was clean and very well organized. Beth was easy to communicate with and followed up quickly whenever I had a question or concern. The bed and other furniture were comfortable and user-friendly, everything in good order but nothing prissy and off-putting. We look forward to returning next year. The location really worked. It was a 5 minute walk to the beach but far enough from the nightlife that we never heard the noise.

Nice rental

This is a very nice apt for vacation rental. The only con is that the driveway and entrance run off the large back alley which is very dark when walking back at night. We use Splashy Ventures vacations rentals for our Florida rentals and will continue to do so. I highly recommend them.
It's quite easy to walk past one house and then walk down a regular street when walking to and from The Sand Dollar. It's not necessary to use the alley any more than that for walking or driving.

The location is great -- walkable to the shore and shops and restaurants in the neighborhood -- the place was beautifully clean. We found everything we needed to prepare our portion of the holiday dinner -- good pans, even a small food processor and a zester! And Beth, our host, was very responsive. Wonderful Sand Dollar Vacation

This adorable garage apartment is a perfect getaway for couples. Perfectly located in Gulfport. Florida. You can walk to the fishing pier, soak up rays at the beach, find a funky shop, dance the salsa at the casino and grab a yummy meal at any of the fine restaurants. Clean and quiet and equipped better than your own house. This was our fourth stay and will be our go to place whenever we come “ home” !

A darling vintage apartment which has been totally updated. Very clean and comfortable. Comfy bed! The kitchen has everything, and I mean everything, one could possibly need! Beth provides much info...on the apt., local interests, restaurants, etc. GREAT communication! Must eat at Pia's Trattoria! Wonderful Italian. Also, be sure to visit Mazzaro's Italian Market in St Pete. Fresh, handmade stuffed pastas. Great wine room, gourmet desserts, cheeses, etc! Thank you, Beth, for a wonderful stay!!

This is a cozy one bedroom apartment. The King size bed is very comfortable and they had cotton sheets which I really appreciated. The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast and more if we had been so inclined. The property manager was very responsive to any questions we had. Gulf Port is a funky town with a lot of variety in terms of the quality of the homes and properties. It is like stepping back into the 70's. In any case, this apartment is a cozy oasis to vacation in.

The Gulfport area has many restaurant/bars, shops, and art shops within walking distance of the Sand Dollar, and the Tampa-St. Pete area has always yielded tons of attractions and events. My wife and I can't say enough about our vacation rental at the Sand Dollar in Gulfport. First of all, the communications with the owner was exceptional, extremely helpful and a wonderful list explaining all you need to know about the rental. 99% of your vacation needs are provided. Great getaway, close to everything

The rental unit was as shown in the pictures, unit was very clean. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, except no dishwasher (that was me). I had trouble finding the unit when we first arrived, we drove right by the gated driveway when we went down the alley opposite of the directions. The unit is only 2 blocks to the heart of Gulfport, seemed like something was going on everyday. So many shops, restaurants (loved The Neptune, great Greek food), bars (O'Mallys), beach volleyball, beach with swings, kids play ground, public library (free internet access), community theater, dancing, free live entertainment, you name it, they have it all.
I would recommend the unit for couples and possibly with a family of 4 with small children. I plan to stay at the Sand Dollar again if unit is available on our next visit to the Tampa Bay area.

Loved the Sand Dollar!

We really enjoyed our time at the Sand Dollar. We were visiting my daughter at Eckerd College in St. Pete and Gulfport is a nice alternative to the busy St. Pete Beach area. It's great to be able to walk around town and we especially appreciated how dog-friendly the place is. Sand Dollar was the perfect size for a couple and one small dog, with a nice restful gated yard to enjoy. It had everything we could want or need and was very comfortable and clean.
I'm not sure I could recommend this for more than 2 or maybe 3 people, as the second bed is a sofa bed and the only bath is off of the bedroom, but for a couple, it was wonderful. We'll definitely try to stay again sometime!

Relaxing stay at Sand Dollar

We had a wonderful stay at Sand Dollar apt. It was a hidden gem in the quaint town of Gulfport, Fl. I grew up here and love to come back to visit. It is in a great location with easy access to many places. I found it to be clean and well stocked with almost everything you could need. There are many great restaurants in the area. I love Habana Cafe which is right down the street. I hope we can come back for another stay!

March 9-14th stay

We flew into Orlando and drove to Gulfport at night. It was a little tricky to find the place because of the alleys, but after that everything was great. It was very nice to have the keypad on the door. We also had everything we needed. We were in town for the Grand Prix, so we were close enough to downtown to easily drive or Uber. A couple nights we ate on the strip a few blocks away. It was a much more relaxing experience than a hotel! Everything else from the weekend was great and if we do come back again, we'll likely look this place up first! Thanks!

We keep coming back to the Sand Dollar. It's the perfect place for the two of us and our dog. Bright and airy, private fenced back yard. Only a block from the water front and from the downtown area. Art walks, Fresh Markets, cute restaurants and coffee places. Fully furnished, everything you need in the kitchen and laundry room. Always clean when we arrive, owners are so friendly and willing to do what ever we need to make our stay perfect - great customer service. A+ rental!

I have never rented a property before, and I must say that my experience at the Sand Dollar for my wife's 30th Birthday was fantastic! The property was clean and located in a great location near the waterfront, beach area, and restaurants. We brought along our dog, which made for a great trip as many locations in St. Pete are dog friendly. I highly recommend taking your pet to Del Soto Dog Beach, which is about 25 minutes away from the Sand Dollar. The instructions and App provided by the management company were very useful to insure we would have a great stay. We hope to book the property in the future.

Three days in paradise

Awesome property with everything you need. Totally convenient to everything local and within walking distance of park, shops, and restaurants. The locals were all vey friendly and accommodating and have never seen s place where your pets are so welcomed!
The area is indeed very pet-friendly. Gulfport hosts the state's largest pet rescue event each February as well.

We had a very nice stay there. We liked the electronic lock system. Not keys to get or lose. Nice quiet place. A bit difficult to locate the right alley at night. Good WiFi and TV. Large kitchen.

Cozy Convenience & Unbeatable Location

Bringing pets on vacation is almost impossible nowadays due to the limited accommodations catering to them, but this short-term rental property solves all of your problems. Having 3 dogs ourselves, it was the first time we were able to bring them with us. Not having to worry about who will take care of them while we are away meant the world to us and Beth (the property manager) even waived the pet fee for our 15-lb. dog! The location is a block away from O' Maddy's and Salty's, there's ballroom dancing during the weekends at the Gulfport Casino and then the beach! The place was fantastic and I cannot rave about it enough. We plan on coming back soon.

Comfortable Retreat in Gulfport

What a wonderful, super comfortable apartment! Great location in a quiet neighborhood just two blocks from restaurants and shops! Love the king size bed and walk-in closet. The bathroom has a cart where you can put all your toiletries, so the sink doesn't get cluttered. A very well stocked kitchen is perfect for preparing meals. Chairs, tables, a hammock, and a grill are outside in a lovely outdoor space. There is also a washer and dryer downstairs. I hope to return because it was just lovely!

Quiet, comfortable, lovely! We had a wonderful time at Sand Dollar. The property is charming and has everything you could need. Great location, close to the art district. When we weren't at the beach, we were walking the neighborhood with our dog who was welcomed at many businesses and restaurants. Look forward to visiting again.

When we first pulled in we were a little worried that it wss not in a safe area because of the houses next to us. But it turned out to be o.k.Close to the town and the beach. House was very equipped with items we needed.

It was nice - full kitchen, though we didn't really need it for a 2 night stay. Loved the location to the shops/restaurants as well as the beach. Was nice to have beach toys for the kids. My only criticism (and this is due to me being new to Home Away) is the many instructions we were given. Unsure if that's unique to this property or for all properties. It kind of takes away from the vacation aspect a bit.....

Our recent stay at The Sand Dollar put us in the heart of the arts district in this wonderful, old time Florida town. The garage apartment was nicely remodeled retaining many original architectural features. The lay out of the apartment was very nice for two adults, but the sofa bed could accomodate another adult or child. The bathroom is accessible through the bedroom. The bed is super comfy - very nice king size. The linens do need some updating. The bathroom is tight with no counter space. The shower is large and water pressure is good. The shower floor does need a good scrubbing.
The kitchen is separated from the main living area by a foyer and can be closed off from the sleeping area. Appliances are nice, but no dishwasher. All other needs for cooking are provided. The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen and is very cozy. Love the "built-in " ironing board.
The a/c is central and works well. Management asks that windows not be opened.
The apartment entrance is up an outside flight of stairs and would not be suitable for handicapped. The yard is lovely, beautiful landscaping and privacy fence. The utility room is downstairs and has an onsite washer and dryer. Beach chairs are in the utility room The "second" bathroom is in the utility room - only a toilet. Parking is tight and requires backing in and out of an alley with a garge across the street. Check with the owner if you have a large vehicle for optional parking.
The neighbor's dog is an alarm clock set for 5:30 am. But he is only noisy for a few minutes. We had to get going early anyway.
Signs and notes are left everywhere about keeping the unit clean. The "cleaners" have a limited list of chores they will provide. We stripped the bed and started the load of towels before leaving. Also, washed all dishes and dried and put them away. The cleaning fee is a bit high, but it wasn't a big deal.

Wonderful Summer Vacation!! 5 stars!

We spent many hours searching for the right property to stay at for our 10 day vacation in Florida. We found the sand dollar and was very impressed with the location and size of the house for our small family of three. It is exactly what is described. A 5 min walk to Gulfport beach which was so quiet almost a private beach which we loved!! We also spent many days on the gorgeous St.Petes beach which is a 10 min drive and from the sand dollar. The house is clean, comfortable, wifi and cable were great! The large king size bed was a dream to sleep on. Everything you need is in the house! We loved that it was quiet and not a party place as we went with our almost 2 year old son. I would recommend the Sand Dollar to anyone looking for a great beach vacation. We also went to Busch Gardens only 30 mom drive, Disney World which is 1.5 hours and a Tampa Rays baseball game, only 10 min from the house! We can't wait to go back to the Sand Dollar!!

Makes sure you read the whole packet of information the renter sends to make sure you park at the right house. Fully functional kitchen (pots, pans, cookware, towels, some seasonings, etc.)
Close to a beach recreational area but we spent most of our days driving to the beach (10 minutes away) I recommend a steak house (1200 chophouse) if you are looking for amazing food, great wine, and great service. Get there early and with an empty stomach (large portions and they WILL have a wait)
Doors have access codes to enter and exit.
